Automated Dynamics’ Resumes Production After Irene Flooding

SCHENECTADY, N.Y., September 1, 2011 - Like many businesses throughout New York, Automated Dynamics, a leading manufacturer of advanced composite structures and high performance processing equipment, was adversely affected by the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene.

Located in downtown Schenectady, near the banks of the Mohawk River, Automated Dynamics' 45,000 sq. ft. headquarters building and manufacturing plant shut down Sunday, August 28, due to flooding and an area wide electric power shutdown.

"The flooding and consequent wreckage across the region has been catastrophic," said Robert Langone, president, Automated Dynamics. "Fortunately, we took precautions when we heard the forecast, and we were able to mitigate the damage."

David Hauber, technical director, said teams of employees have spent the past couple of days cleaning the floors and preparing the equipment for startup. Thursday morning power was restored and normal production resumed.

"Overall, we're in very good shape," said Langone. "The facility is clean and running at full capacity."
