SCHENECTADY, N.Y., June 6, 2013 - Automated Dynamics has announced the sale of its state-of-the-art Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) system to the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT), Bethpage, NY. The Advanced Material and Manufacturing Technology Innovation Center (AMMTIC) is a division of LIFT and is where the new AFP equipment will be located. This research center will comprise 25,000 sq. ft. and is currently being renovated for occupancy in the fall of 2013.

Automated Dynamics was featured in the May 2013 issue of High Performance Composites for our innovative ‘in situ' Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) manufacturing technology for thermoplastic composites. Read the article here: http://www.compositesworld.com/articles/building-a-better-tail-boom

In September, students from RPI embarked on a mission to build a lightweight, aerodynamic racecar that would allow them to reach their goal of placing in the Top 10 at the Formula SAE competition at Michigan International Speedway. In order to reach their goal, they researched the use of composite parts as a way to decrease the weight of the car, and contacted Automated Dynamics for assistance.

Scientists and inventors in the Capital Region are making new discoveries at a record pace. But new federal patent regulations that took effect earlier this month could stunt job creation because of the potential costs involved.

The most significant change is that now U.S. patents will be awarded on a "first-to-file" basis rather than a "first-to-invent" system that previously had been in place.
